Welcome to our Home Ed Hub!

Come along and meet other home educating families, ask for bookseller recommendations for topics of interest, and enjoy space to read and draw!

Each week we will have different structured activities alongside the open space - these will involve a cost to cover staff and resources, and we advise booking ahead to guarantee your spot.
Let us know if there are any new activities you'd like to see!

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Our Home Ed Hub aims to be a relaxed and comfortable space for all - however, we must stress that this space is created and maintained by real people, whose needs should also be respected.

Unfortunately due to the actions of a small few, we now need to change the way we approach things to keep it safe and comfortable and allow us to provide the service we intended.

The top issues we have encountered this term:

Children throwing/behaving aggressively with shop property, including toys and teddies provided for everyone'e enjoyment. This is not only disrespecful but also presents a clear hazard in a public environment.

Children removing/not wearing appropriate clothing (including socks). We are a retail space open to the public, and this is as much for that child's hygiene and safeguarding as anyone else's!

Children struggling in a group setting. As a shop, we do not have the capacity for one-to-one support, and expecting something we are unable to deliver is unfair to the child who needs it.

We understand that home ed looks different for every family. We understand that some families have had very difficult experiences, and may face a variety of challenges. We work hard to offer a more relaxed environment for everyone to explore creativity in, and asking our customers to be respecful of us and our needs is neither discriminatory nor unreasonable.

Therefore, to keep everyone safe and comfortable, in order to attend our sessions EVERY family MUST:

- Have a responsible adult with them

- Be able to listen and follow instruction

- Be able to wear and keep clothing on (including socks)

- Be willing and able to respect others around them

- Be willing and able to respect other people's property

- Be able to participate in group activity

If our setting is not the right space for you, we are happy to recommend great local providers who offer specialist SEND sessions, and/or support services for those who are struggling with behaviour, school trauma, or other issues.

We really do know how tough it can be, and we respect every family who decides to home educate, whatever their reason.
